Paris Saint-Germain consider Abdessamad Ezzalzouli as Barcelona eye €11m windfall

Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Real Betis winger Abdessamad Ezzalzouli as they assess options to cover Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s prolonged absence through injury.

The Georgia international suffered a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is expected to miss the rest of the season. That has prompted Paris Saint-Germain to examine potential attacking reinforcements during the winter transfer window, with Ezzalzouli among the players under consideration.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, citing journalist Ekrem Konur, the Moroccan winger is one of the options being reviewed by the French club. However, Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be assessing the financial implications carefully because of the potential cost of the deal.

Real Betis are not expected to let Ezzalzouli leave cheaply. During the previous summer transfer window, the club set a valuation of €55m for the player, a figure close to the approximate €60m release clause in his contract.

Barcelona are following developments closely because they retained a 20% sell-on percentage when Ezzalzouli left the club for Real Betis in September 2023. The transfer was worth €7.5m.

If Real Betis were to sell the winger for €55m, Barcelona would receive about €11m under the terms of that agreement. The possible financial return has made Ezzalzouli’s future a matter of particular interest at the Catalan club.

Previous Premier League interest

Paris Saint-Germain are not the first club to have monitored Ezzalzouli. Aston Villa and Newcastle United also tracked him during the previous summer window and considered whether to make a move.

The winger ultimately chose to remain with Real Betis, where he has become an important part of manager Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.

That interest followed a productive campaign in which Ezzalzouli scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists in 43 appearances. He has also made a positive start to the 2026-2027 season, scoring three goals in seven La Liga matches and adding another goal in two Champions League appearances.

Paris Saint-Germain’s interest is now linked to the need to replace Kvaratskhelia for the long term, although the financial demands set by Real Betis could prove decisive in determining whether a deal progresses.
