Qatar 2022: Ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter reacts to Nigeria’s World Cup absence

Sepp Blatter, former FIFA President has expressed disappointment with Nigeria’s absence at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the Mundial for the first time since 2006 after losing the playoffs to Black Stars of Ghana.
The Super Eagles have had decent records at the FIFA World Cup making to the Round of 16 on four occasions and remains the only African team to have topped a World Cup group and along with Morocco.
Blatter had enjoyed good relations with Nigeria and Africa during his FIFA Presidency, as Nigeria played host to the U20 and U17 FIFA World Cups, while South Africa got the hosting right for 2010 FIFA World Cup under his watch.
In an interview with Nigerian journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana, Blatter said he’s pained Nigeria did not make it to Qatar.
“I have to tell you that I am very disappointed that the Super Eagles are not at the Qatar 2022 World Cup,” Blatter said on Nigeria’s sporting radio, Eagle7fm.
“How can a big country like Nigeria not be in Qatar? It is a very big absence. I am not happy at all about this.” He said.
