Real Madrid step up pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yanmar Doue before Austria camp

Real Madrid are intensifying efforts to sign RB Leipzig winger Yanmar Doue before the Bundesliga club depart for their pre-season training camp in Austria on Saturday, with talks between the two clubs ongoing.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany reported on Thursday on X that Real Madrid are “pushing to complete the deal” for the Ivory Coast international ahead of Leipzig’s flight to their training base.

Real hold fresh talks with Leipzig

According to the same source, Real Madrid held a new round of discussions with Leipzig on Thursday as they try to reach an agreement in the coming 48 hours.

Plettenberg added that the 19-year-old remains in Leipzig and has continued to train and conduct himself professionally while the negotiations take place, waiting for the two clubs to find a breakthrough. He stressed that “the deal is ongoing”.

Doue, who operates primarily as a winger, joined RB Leipzig in the summer of 2025 from Spanish side Leganes and produced an eye-catching campaign in the Bundesliga, which has drawn interest from across Europe.

PSG lead rival interest

Paris Saint-Germain are also competing for Doue’s signature, while Liverpool and Manchester City are both reported to be monitoring the Ivory Coast forward.

No details were given on any formal bids from the Premier League clubs, but their interest underlines the level of attention the Leipzig player has attracted after his first season in Germany’s top flight.

Background to Real Madrid’s move

Real Madrid’s urgency is tied to Leipzig’s schedule, with the German club set to travel to Austria on Saturday for their main pre-season camp. Completing a deal before that date would allow any incoming player to integrate quickly at his new club while also giving Leipzig clarity over their squad for the tour.

The current talks focus solely on the potential transfer of Doue, with no mention in the reporting of other players or swap components being involved.

Doue’s current situation

Doue, who turned 19 this year, is considered one of the most promising young attacking talents from Ivory Coast. His performances for Leipzig in the Bundesliga last season have significantly raised his profile, prompting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

For now, he remains under contract and in full training with Leipzig, awaiting the outcome of negotiations between the German side and Real Madrid, as well as monitoring how the situation develops with Paris Saint-Germain and the English clubs linked with him.

No agreement has yet been announced by any of the parties involved, and there has been no official comment from Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool or Manchester City on the state of the talks.
