Rinsola Babajide nets second goal as Tenerife succumb to Real Madrid loss

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

In a challenging match for Costa Adeje Tenerife, Rinsola Babajide scored their only goal in a 4-1 defeat against Real Madrid at the Football Field Adeje on Sunday.

The match saw Real Madrid, the vice champions of La Liga, dominate early, with Caroline-Sophie Moller breaking the deadlock in the 29th minute.

Just two minutes later, Linda Caicedo showcased her skill, dribbling past both the goalkeeper and a defender to double Real Madrid’s lead.

Costa Adeje found a glimmer of hope in the 35th minute when Babajide converted a penalty kick after Koko was fouled, making it 2-1.

However, Real Madrid responded strongly in the second half, with Moller and Filippa Angeldal adding to their tally.

Babajide, who had netted her second league goal of the season, was substituted in the 76th minute for Sakina Ouzraoui, while Gift Monday played the full match.

With this result, Costa Adeje Tenerife sits in 10th place on the table with four points from four games.

They will look to bounce back when they face Babajide’s former team, Real Betis, on October 6, 2024.
