Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has firmly shut the door on any potential departures for Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi during the ongoing winter transfer window.
The Super Eagles’ assistant captain has recently attracted interest from French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco and Spanish club Atlético Madrid. However, Van Nistelrooy emphasized that Leicester will not entertain any bids for Ndidi, regardless of how lucrative they may be.
Ndidi, who is now making a return to full training following an injury sustained in December, has been one of Leicester’s standout performers this season. Van Nistelrooy made it clear that the club views the experienced midfielder as a key figure in their efforts to turn their season around.
When questioned about the possibility of Ndidi leaving the club this January, Van Nistelrooy responded: “No, of course not. Wilfred is a key player and person in the squad and in the club, and I’m glad he is nearly back to help the team again.”
He continued: “We know how much we’ve missed him and how much we need him. Wilf is crucial in the coming months—he’s a key part of this team that can get us out of this situation.”
With three assists in 15 league appearances this season, Ndidi remains central to Leicester City’s plans for the second half of the campaign.
