The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has confirmed the cancellation of the proposed international friendly between the Reggae Girlz and Nigeria’s Super Falcons, which was slated to take place in England.
The federation explained that administrative issues prompted the decision, emphasizing that the move ensures adherence to international standards and FIFA regulations.
In an official statement, the JFF highlighted its dedication to transparency amid media reports surrounding the scrapped fixture. “The Jamaica Football Federation has reaffirmed its commitment to FIFA compliance and transparency following recent reports surrounding the proposed fixture involving the Reggae Girlz and Nigeria,” the statement read.
The JFF further clarified that the cancellation was necessary to guarantee that all logistical arrangements and procedural requirements met the proper international benchmarks.
Both teams are continuing preparations for upcoming competitive fixtures. The Super Falcons are expected to arrange alternative warm-up matches as they fine-tune their squad ahead of their next international engagements.
The Reggae Girlz and Super Falcons remain two of the most prominent women’s national teams in the Caribbean and Africa, respectively. Fans had eagerly anticipated the encounter as a valuable opportunity for both sides to test themselves against top-tier competition.
