Sone Aluko’s Stellar Strike Ignites Reading FC’s Resurgence Under Manager Paul Clement

In a spectacular display of skill and finesse, Nigeria forward Sone Aluko marked his triumphant return to goal-scoring form, securing a 1-0 Championship home victory for Reading FC against Queens Park Rangers on Friday. The win not only ended Reading’s frustrating nine-game winless streak in the league but also heralded the beginning of Paul Clement’s managerial tenure with a commendable triumph.

Former assistant manager at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Clement, expressed his elation over Aluko’s performance, branding the 13th-minute goal as “fantastic.” Reflecting on the team’s positive start, Clement remarked, “We started brightly, and we fully deserved to go ahead… it was a fantastic goal.” The goal, which terminated Aluko’s four-month goal drought, proved pivotal in Reading’s resurgence under Clement’s leadership.

Acknowledging a lapse in the team’s momentum after the early success, Clement, in an interview with Reading’s official website, commented on the halftime adjustments: “We had a poor period then, and we spoke about those things at half-time.” Emphasizing the significance of the collective effort, Clement praised the team’s battling performance, stating, “I was expecting them to put in a shift, and they did.”

As Reading now stands 19th in the 24-team Championship table with 39 points, Clement emphasized that this victory is just the beginning of their campaign. “We’ve got seven more games, and every game has got to be at least like that… and maybe even better,” he affirmed. With a positive start under Clement’s guidance, Reading FC fans eagerly anticipate an upward trajectory in the remaining fixtures.
