Taiwo Awoniyi linked with Rizespor move from Nottingham Forest

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with a move from Nottingham Forest to Rizespor.

The 29-year-old centre-forward is reportedly attracting interest from the Turkish Super Lig club, with the rumour recorded on 12 August 2026. Awoniyi remains under contract at Forest until 30 June 2027, meaning any move would have to be agreed before his current deal expires.

Awoniyi joined Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin in July 2022 for a reported €20.5m. His current market value is listed at €8m.

He has made 90 Premier League appearances during his career, scoring 21 goals and providing six assists. Awoniyi has also played in the Bundesliga, where he recorded 21 goals in 64 appearances.

The forward began his senior career with Liverpool and spent several seasons on loan before establishing himself in Germany. He returned to Union Berlin permanently in 2021, before moving to Forest the following year.

Awoniyi has won the Under-23 Africa Cup and Under-20 Africa Cup with Nigeria, as well as the Under-17 World Cup in 2013. His international achievements came before his move into regular senior club football.

No transfer fee or agreement has been indicated in connection with the reported interest from Rizespor. Awoniyi’s current contract with Nottingham Forest runs through the end of June 2027.
