“This season is a memory” — Osimhen reflects on record-breaking year at Galatasaray

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria star Victor Osimhen has described his first season at Galatasaray as unforgettable after helping the Turkish Super Lig leaders to a 4-2 win over Sivasspor with another stellar performance.

The Nigerian striker, who joined the club on loan from Napoli last summer, netted twice in the emphatic victory, taking his league tally to 24 goals and five assists in just 27 matches.

Across all competitions, Osimhen has now scored a career-best 33 goals this season.

“It was important to break my record in my first season. I am at one of the most important clubs in the world,” Osimhen said in a post-match interview published on the club’s website.

“The biggest club in Turkiye. I would like to thank my family and friends for helping me.

“I would like to thank the technical team and the club staff. They never left me alone. This season is a memory that I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Osimhen, 26, was full of praise for his teammates, underscoring that his motivation goes beyond individual accolades.

“Apart from goals and assists, I like to help the team,” he said. “I want to get the ball, help the midfield, and do my best for the team. The team comes first for me.”

He also acknowledged the contributions of fellow players, including Roland, Mario, Torreira, and Sanchez, highlighting the collective strength that has powered Galatasaray’s title charge.

With Galatasaray on the brink of reclaiming the Turkish Super Lig title, Osimhen’s impact has been both decisive and inspirational — a campaign he says will live with him forever.
