Transfer Saga: Heartland, Dino Sporting Club clash over Peter Afolayan’s ownership

By Wale Mustapha

Heartland FC and Dino Sporting Club are embroiled in a transfer dispute over the ownership of player Peter Afolayan, according to reports from Nigeriafootball.ng.

Afolayan, a young defender, was reportedly loaned to Heartland at the start of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The player featured regularly for Heartland during the first half of the season, but has mysteriously disappeared after the team resumed for the second stanza, with Heartland declaring him missing for failing to return to training this week.

However, Dino Sporting Club has dismissed Heartland’s claims, asserting that they officially withdrew the player’s services on December 30, 2024. The club provided a memo signed by their chairman, Samuel Columbus, notifying Heartland of the withdrawal.

“This is to inform you that Dino Sporting Club, owner of Afolayan Temitope Peter, as of with immediate effect, we are hereby withdrawing our player from your team,” the memo stated.

“Your club has failed to meet her obligation in the proposed loan agreement.”

The clash between the two clubs has sparked a tense situation surrounding the future of Afolayan, with both sides now at odds over the young defender’s next move.
