In the aftermath of Napoli’s 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, retired Italian football icon Alessandro Del Piero has showered praise on Victor Osimhen for his performance.

Despite the disappointment of the loss, Del Piero highlighted Osimhen’s positive attitude and effort, emphasizing the striker’s unquestionable contribution to the team.

While Osimhen couldn’t find the back of the net in the defeat, Del Piero attributed Napoli’s overall approach as the key factor behind the result.

Despite Napoli’s unimpressive campaign, the Super Eagles’ forward has remained resilient, showcasing his commitment and determination on the field.

Having scored 11 goals this season despite featuring in fewer games for the Serie A champions, Osimhen’s contribution has not gone unnoticed by Del Piero, who remains optimistic about the Nigerian’s impact on the team.

“You may feel down, but his [Osimhen’s] qualities are unquestionable,” Del Piero told Napoli Magazine on Tuesday.

“In general, he is in a very negative season for Napoli, and therefore, he has not faced everything that has happened in this season with a smile, but his attitude has always been positive.”
