Barcelona boss, Xavier Hernández has revealed plans to defend well and starve Osimhen of freedom when they clash with Napoli in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, February 21 at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.
Xavi believes it’s crucial for the Blaugrana to stop Osimhen and his strike partners from operating freely in the game.
He foresees an identical tactical approach to the game taking note of how the Partenope will want to defend under a new coach.
“It is fundamental that we defend well against Napoli, not allowing Politano, Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia to hurt us in the transitions. They are players who can make the difference,” Xavi said at the Prematch Presser.
“We also know that the second leg is at home, so need to be a little more cautious. We will try to defend in possession, though I imagine Napoli will aim to do the same, especially under a new coach. It’s going to be a complicated match.
“I would never say a draw is a good result, because we are Barcelona and must always play to win.”
After returning from AFCON, Osimhen missed the weekend draw against Genoa which his coach admitted he wasn’t fit for the game.
The Africa footballer of the year is in shape to play against Spanish giant, Barcelona in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League.
