Victor Osimhen addresses Mourinho’s racism Incident in Turkey

By Monsurah Olatunji

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding José Mourinho, following allegations that the Fenerbahce manager made racist remarks after a heated clash in their ongoing title race.

Mourinho reportedly accused Galatasaray’s coaching team of “jumping like monkeys” from the bench, triggering a storm of criticism and prompting threats of legal action.

While some former players, including Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, and Mikel Obi, have defended their former boss, arguing that the accusations were unfounded, Osimhen acknowledged that the comments were inappropriate.

Osimhen shared his thoughts on the situation, expressing that while Mourinho’s remarks were offensive, he did not believe the Portuguese coach was being racist.

“José Mourinho is a very special person. He is someone that every African has a close bond with because of the volunteer projects he has done in Africa,” Osimhen said on ObiOne Podcast with Mikel Obi.

“It’s not nice of him to say they jumped like monkeys, but I don’t think he was being racist or that’s why he said that.”

Osimhen’s statement reflects a nuanced take on the incident, acknowledging the inappropriate nature of the comments while defending Mourinho’s overall character and actions toward Africa.
