‘We can’t afford to disappoint’ – Samuel Chukwueze targets big win against Sao Tome

Samuel Chukwueze says his side will respect Sao Tome and Principe but are looking to record another big win against them.

Nigeria will take on Sao Tome and Principe in their final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The AC Milan forward is determined to reunite the Super Eagles and its fans through a victory over São Tomé.

“We defeated them 10-0 the last time we met and it will be nice to go higher than that this time around,” Chukwueze told Complete Sports.

“But in football, you have to respect your opponent as well. They won’t want a repeat of the first leg result and will give us a good fight.

“I can’t remember the last time we won a game at home in Nigeria. A win will draw our fans closer to the team as we prepare for the World Cup qualifiers in November.

“For us, it is important to make the fans happy. They will be looking forward to another big win and we can’t afford to disappoint them.”
