Wycombe Wanderers’ formidable striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, affectionately known as “The Beast,” has been shortlisted for the English League Two Professional Football Association (PFA) Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Year Award.
Announced on the official PFA website, the 36-year-old striker’s nomination comes on the back of an exceptional season for Wycombe, during which he made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 14 assists.
His impactful performances have been instrumental in Wycombe’s successful campaign, securing their promotion to League One, the third tier of English football.
Describing Akinfenwa’s contribution, the PFA highlighted his pivotal role in Wycombe’s ascent: “The powerhouse of English football continued to deliver in 2017/18. Wycombe are on their way up to League One, and their dominant forward has been key to that. 17 goals and 12 assists in the league is a very good return to say the least.”
Competing for the League Two PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Year alongside Akinfenwa are players including Sean McConville of Accrington Stanley, Dany Hylton from Luton Town, Billy Kee of Accrington Stanley, Marc McNulty representing Coventry City, and Dan Potts from Luton Town.
Voting for the prestigious award will culminate on May 25, 2018, at 8 am, allowing fans to cast their votes in support of their favorite player. Akinfenwa’s nomination underscores his influence and impact in the League Two season, capturing the attention and recognition of fans and football enthusiasts across the country.
