The youngster making headlines in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is Yusuf Abdullahi.
Abdullahi scored five goals as Kano Pillars defeated Gombe United 5-2 in Matchday 11 of the league on Sunday.
The 17-year-old is now the youngest NPFL player in history to score a hat-trick.
He is also the first 17-year-old player on record to score a hat-trick inside 45 minutes.
Yusuf became the first 17-year-old player in NPFL history to score five goals in a single game.
The youngster is now the fastest player to reach five goals in the 2023/2024 league campaign.
Irrespective of his enviable record, he doesn’t hold the record for the most goals scored in the NPFL.
On October 22, 2014, Emem Eduok scored six goals for Port Harcourt side, Dolphins FC in a 6-0 win against Nembe City.
Before then, Victor Ezeji scored four goals for the same team, Dolphins FC during a 5-0 win against El Kanemi Warriors in 2006 and later against Sokoto United in 2009.
Yusuf’s five goals on Sunday are a record for goals scored by an individual in an away match.
