OFFICIAL: Nigeria star Victor Osimhen ends transfer speculation with Napoli extension

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen has extended his contract with Italian Serie A champions, Napoli.

The Italian top-flight club announced the contract extension of Osimhen who signed for an additional year in the face of the desire of several top European clubs to acquire the former Lille player.

The Nigerian’s name has been hanging around at PSG, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and even Manchester United but Victor Osimhen will stay at Naples.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker and the management of Partenopei have reached an agreement for his extension until 2026.

To stop waiting any longer and with the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) close, Naples made the news of its extension official on Saturday.

Arriving in Naples in September 2020 from the French side, Lille, Victor Osimhen scored 67 goals and provided 17 assists in 118 matches with the Neapolitans.

He notably won the Scudetto last season (2022/2023) by being the top scorer in Serie A with 26 goals.

He capped up his impressive performance by winning Nigeria’s first CAF Player of the Year award in 24 years this month in Morocco.

He is in his fourth season with the Italian side.
