NNL Super 8 Playoff kicks off with slim wins as Lagos derby ends in stalemate

The 2024 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 gets underway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu with four games in the Northern and Southern Conferences respectively on Saturday.

The opening match in the Northern Conference saw Moyi Hassan’s 25th minute goal lifting Nasarawa United to a 1-0 win against El-Kanemi Warriors.

The second Northern Conference matchup between Sporting Supreme FC and Sokoto United ended 1-0 in favour of the former thanks to Abdullahi’s lone goal.

In the Southern Conference, Beyond Limits edged Madiba FC 2-1.

Ganiyu Adio and Kparobo Arierhi gave Beyond Limits a two goal lead before Nurudeen reduced the deficit for the Lagos based side.

The last game of the opening matchday between two teams from Lagos; Ikorodu City FC and Inter Lagos ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ayomide Cole’s third minute opener was canceled by Babatunde Omosebi in the 44th minute.

The top two teams from the Northern and Southern Conferences at the end of the group games will gain promotion to the top flight to play with the top teams in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
