AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Time and where to watch Rwanda vs Nigeria

By: Monsurah Olatunji

Following their recent victory over Benin Republic, the Nigerian national team is set to face Rwanda in their second match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Rwanda, like Benin Republic, is in the same group as Nigeria for the 2026 World Cup qualification campaign. Currently, Rwanda leads the group, while Nigeria is on the brink of facing another potential World Cup absence.

In their last outing, the Super Eagles secured a convincing 3-0 win against Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo last Saturday, putting them at the top of their AFCON qualifying group after the first round of matches. Meanwhile, Rwanda’s Wasps managed a 1-1 draw with Libya in their opening match, leaving them with a shared point.

This encounter will be the sixth meeting between the two sides, with Nigeria holding an unbeaten record of two wins and three draws. Their previous AFCON qualifying matchups occurred in 2012, where Nigeria drew away and won at home.

Rwanda, which has only qualified for one AFCON tournament in its history—Tunisia 2004—will be eager to make a significant impact and secure a place in the next edition in Morocco.

The match between Rwanda and Nigeria is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the 45,508-seat Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM Nigerian time and will be broadcast live on DSTV and Afrosport.
