NPFL: Fidelis Ilechukwu upbeat about Rangers title defence after Bayelsa United win

By Saheed Afolabi

Enugu Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu was visibly pleased with his team’s narrow 1-0 win over Bayelsa United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Thursday.

The Nigeria Premier Football League game was settled by a powerful 70th-minute strike from Saviour Isaac, which secured the three points for the Flying Antelopes.

Ilechukwu acknowledged the importance of the victory, especially after the team’s recent 2-1 defeat to Remo Stars in Ikenne.

He expressed his satisfaction with the result, noting that it would boost his squad’s confidence as they look to continue their title defense in the NPFL.

“This was a very important game for us,” Ilechukwu said after the match.

“We knew it would be a difficult encounter, but we are grateful for the win. It will give the team the belief and confidence we need as we prepare for our next match against Abia Warriors.”

The victory lifted Rangers to seven points after four matches, leaving them five points behind league leaders Remo Stars.

Ilechukwu will be hoping his side can maintain their momentum and consistency as they aim for more success in the coming fixtures.
