Oladapo Afolayan: Nigerian striker sets sights on Super Eagles and 2026 World Cup

Nigerian striker Oladapo Afolayan, has expressed his eagerness to represent the Super Eagles at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 27-year-old forward, who was born in England to Nigerian parents, has made it clear that he is ready to play for his country of heritage.
Afolayan currently plays for St. Pauli in Germany’s Bundesliga, having joined the club from Bolton Wanderers in January 2023.
His contributions were pivotal in St. Pauli’s promotion to the Bundesliga last season, and he has continued to impress this year, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 13 appearances for the club.
Looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, Afolayan is focused on maintaining his strong performances in hopes of earning a call-up to the Super Eagles.
“I want to continue improving and push myself to play international football, particularly for Nigeria at the next World Cup,” Afolayan shared in an interview with Bundesliga News.
“As long as my performances stay strong and continue to get better, I’m confident that opportunity will come.”
With his talent and determination, Afolayan is certainly a player to watch as he aims for a place in Nigeria’s World Cup squad.
