Is Fikayo Tomori regretting his allegiance choice?

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has expressed his frustration over his continued exclusion from the England national team, despite his strong performances in Serie A.
Tomori, who is eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents and Canada due to his birth in Calgary, has had a mixed senior international career.
Although Tomori was part of England’s U20 team that won the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup, his senior appearances have been limited, with his most recent outing for the Three Lions coming in November 2023 against Malta.
His exclusion from major tournaments has been particularly difficult for the 26-year-old.
In an interview with ITV, Tomori admitted the challenge of accepting his omission, especially when major competitions are on the line.
“I try not to think about it, I focus on what I am doing here,” he said.
“We spoke. It’s always difficult in these situations to see rationally, at that point you think selfishly, why am I not going? Why is he taking this person instead of me? But the decision has been made, and I can’t change it.”
Tomori emphasized that his focus remains on performing well for Milan.
“If I keep on doing what I’m doing, then eventually it’s going to come,” he stated.
“Obviously, I’d like to be there every time and play in a major tournament, which I haven’t done yet and it’s something I still want to achieve. It’s still my goal to be in the World Cup and the Euros.”
Although Tomori has yet to feature in a major international tournament, he remains hopeful that continued success at club level will help him realize his ambitions of playing in the World Cup and European Championships.
