Nigeria midfielder Deborah Abiodun delivered an exceptional performance as Dallas Trinity FC demolished Brooklyn FC 6-0 in a USL match at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas.
The hosts started strong, with Nigerian-American forward Chioma Ubagogu opening the scoring in the sixth minute.
Camryn Lancaster doubled the lead early in the second half, finding the net in the 47th minute. Ubagogu then provided two assists, setting up Allie Thornton for a brace in quick succession.
Lexi Massimo made it 5-0 in the 78th minute, and Lucy Shepherd completed the rout with a sixth goal just three minutes from time.
Head coach Pauline MacDonald praised Abiodun and the team’s collective effort, stating, “I felt relieved with the victory.
“We know we have potentials in the team, and we found our togetherness in the game. Our game plan, our bravery worked.”
MacDonald also emphasized the team’s determination to continue pushing for goals even after taking a commanding lead.
“After scoring two goals, we knew that didn’t secure the victory,” she added.
We wanted the third, which came, and we didn’t want to stop. We will reflect on the game, work harder, and take responsibility.”
