“His data proves that” – German coach backs Tolu Arokodare to make impact with Super Eagles

By Wale Mustapha

Torsten Fink, head coach of Belgian Jupiler League side Racing Genk, believes Tolu Arokodare can use his maiden call-up to Nigeria’s Super Eagles to further enhance his performance for the remainder of the season.

Arokodare, the 24-year-old forward, was included in Eric Chelle’s 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

The Genk striker has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 16 goals in 29 league appearances.

Fink praised Arokodare’s form, stating that his invitation to the national team is a clear sign of the forward’s quality and hard work.

“It is a country that has a choice of many top strikers. This means that Tolu is playing at a very high level,” Fink told the club website.

“He is working harder than ever, his data proves that.”

The German coach expressed optimism that the Super Eagles call-up would provide Arokodare with an additional boost as he heads into the final stretch of the season.

“Sixteen goals is already very good, but of course more have to come,” Fink added.

Arokodare is expected to feature for Genk when they host Union Saint-Gilloise at the Cegeka Arena on Saturday, as he looks to continue his impressive form ahead of his international debut.
