By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria’s Juliet Bassey opened her scoring account for Shaanxi Changan in the Chinese Women’s Super League (WSL) on Sunday, finding the net in a 1-1 draw against Changchun Dazhong.
Bassey struck in the 14th minute to give her side an early lead, marking her first goal since joining the club.
However, the hosts responded in the second half, with Gao Chen leveling the score in the 53rd minute to ensure both teams shared the spoils.
With the goal, Bassey becomes the third Nigerian to find the net in the Chinese WSL this season, joining fellow compatriots Macleans Chinonyerem and Folashade Ijamilusi—both currently on loan.
The result leaves Shaanxi Changan in 11th place on the 12-team table, having accumulated just six points from nine matches.
They will look to improve their standing when they face Yongchuan Chashan in their next league fixture on June 22, 2025.
