Doma United’s Alexander hails courage and resilience after Inter Lagos win

Doma United technical adviser Ayeni Alexander credited his players’ courage, resilience and composure after their 1-0 victory over Inter Lagos continued the club’s impressive beginning to the 2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL season.
The Gombe-based side secured a hard-fought win at Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday, with Sadiq Rilwan scoring the only goal of the match in the 71st minute.
Rilwan rose highest to meet a well-delivered cross and directed a powerful header beyond Inter Lagos goalkeeper Bala Favour. The goal was Rilwan’s second of the campaign and proved decisive as Doma United held on to claim all three points.
The result means Doma United have now recorded consecutive victories against opposition from Lagos. They began their season with a 2-0 win over Sporting Lagos at Pantami Stadium before overcoming Inter Lagos on their first away trip.
Alexander said the performance was shaped not only by the tactical plan but also by the attitude and discipline of the players selected to start the game.
Speaking in an interview published on Doma United’s X handle, he said: “The feelings was okay, we are glad that the boys really responded well. It’s not just the tactics and formation we applied but it’s about the readiness of the 11 players on the field of play.
“So I want to appreciate their courage, resilience, dexterity and their composure on and off the ball, so they did well, it was a good performance.
The victory gives Doma United further encouragement as they continue their early campaign, while their ability to secure successive wins against Lagos-based clubs has underlined their strong start.
Their next assignment will take them back to Pantami Stadium in Gombe, where they will host Enyimba of Aba on Saturday, 12 September 2026.
Doma United will be seeking another positive result in front of their home supporters, while Enyimba will provide the opposition in the club’s next Euromatch NPFL fixture.
The match against Inter Lagos was decided by Rilwan’s second-half header, but Alexander’s post-match assessment focused on the collective contribution of the team. He highlighted the players’ readiness, their work with and without the ball, and their ability to remain composed during a closely contested match.
For Doma United, the 1-0 scoreline also extended a sequence of successful results that began with their opening-day victory over Sporting Lagos. Their return to Gombe for the meeting with Enyimba will give them an opportunity to build on that momentum.
