Getafe President offers update on Chrisantus Uche’s potential EPL move

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Getafe president Ángel Torres has addressed ongoing speculation surrounding the future of Super Eagles winger Chrisantus Uche, amid reported interest from several English Premier League clubs.

Speaking to Cuevta TV, Torres revealed that while no formal offers have been submitted, Uche appears intent on a move to England.

“Uche doesn’t even know what he wants; it depends on how he gets up. He’s coming tomorrow, and we’ll talk to him,” Torres said. “He’s clear that if he’s going, it’s to the Premier League. He has offers from Italy, but I don’t know why, he wants to go to the Premier League.”

The 23-year-old has also been linked with a potential move to LaLiga rivals Atletico Madrid, but Getafe have yet to receive a concrete bid.

Meanwhile, Ceuta FC — Uche’s former club — retains a 12.5% sell-on clause from his transfer to Getafe.

Should a deal be struck, Ceuta stands to earn a significant windfall. For example, a €20 million transfer fee would see the club receive approximately €2.5 million.

Discussions between Uche and the Getafe hierarchy are expected to take place this week as the summer transfer window heats up.
