Uganda unveil strong AFCON 2025 squad as Group C clash with Super Eagles looms

With just weeks remaining before the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, one of Nigeria’s key Group C opponents, Uganda, has released a strong and competitive squad for the continental tournament.

The Cranes, under the guidance of seasoned Belgian coach Paul Put, have experienced a notable resurgence in recent months—highlighted by their impressive displays in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Building on that momentum, Put on Saturday officially unveiled his squad for AFCON 2025, signalling Uganda’s ambition to be a serious contender in Morocco.

Uganda are drawn in Group C, where they will go head-to-head with three-time African champions Nigeria, perennial tournament force Tunisia, and regional rivals Tanzania.

The group is widely viewed as one of the toughest and most competitive in the tournament.

With the squad now confirmed, the Cranes will intensify their preparation as they look to make a significant impact when the competition kicks off in Morocco.
