Moses Simon Credits Eric Chelle’s Tactical Discipline for Super Eagles’ Resurgence

Moses Simon has attributed Nigeria’s senior men’s national team’s recent consistency to the tactical discipline introduced by head coach Eric Chelle.

Super Eagles extended their impressive run with a 2–1 victory over the Iran national football team in a four-nation invitational tournament in Turkey. Simon opened the scoring, while Akor Adams played a key role in the build-up to the second goal.

Speaking after the match, Simon emphasized that the team’s improved structure and discipline have been central to their unbeaten run in open play since Chelle’s appointment.

“Our approach to games has changed,” he said. “Every player is expected to contribute defensively, and when we attack, we do so as a unit. The coach’s philosophy is clear: if we cannot win, then we must not lose.”

The winger noted that discipline, tactical awareness, and physical intensity are now essential requirements for players hoping to feature regularly, adding that these principles have significantly enhanced the team’s balance and resilience.

Simon also highlighted Chelle’s preferred tactical system, particularly the use of a diamond formation, which allows the team to maximize attacking options without sacrificing defensive stability.

The Super Eagles will look to maintain their strong form when they take on the Jordan national football team in their next fixture of the tournament.
