Jens Stage has expressed optimism over the return of Victor Boniface as Werder Bremen continue their fight to avoid relegation in the Bundesliga.
Boniface has been sidelined for several months due to injury, a period during which the team struggled at a critical stage of the campaign. However, the Nigerian forward has now resumed training and is expected to play a role in the run-in.
Speaking to the club’s media, Stage emphasized the importance of Boniface’s return to the squad.
“I haven’t seen him yet, but I hope he comes in a good mood, gets fit quickly and can help us on the pitch,” he said.
“He perhaps has the greatest potential in the squad. He’s a really good footballer and popular in the dressing room. He’s a cool guy, and we need good footballers.”
Werder Bremen currently sit 14th on the table with 28 points from 27 matches, as they look to steer clear of the relegation zone in the closing stages of the season.
