Victor Boniface Returns to Bayer Leverkusen After Challenging Loan Spell at Werder Bremen

Nigeria forward Victor Boniface has officially returned to Bayer Leverkusen following the conclusion of his loan stint at Werder Bremen.
The 24-year-old striker struggled during his time in Bremen, failing to score in 11 Bundesliga appearances. His spell was further hampered by recurring knee problems and fitness concerns, which limited him mostly to substitute appearances.
Despite the setbacks, Boniface expressed his appreciation for the experience in a post on his official X account. “Wow. Crazy season for me, a lot has happened,” he wrote. “Just want to say thank you very much to fans and staff and players.”
Boniface is set to rejoin Bayer Leverkusen as they gear up for the 2026/27 season. The Nigerian international is expected to compete for a spot in attacking lineup and aims to recapture the prolific form that originally earned him a move to the BayArena.
