Premier League club Fulham is reportedly working to secure the permanent signing of Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze from AC Milan ahead of the new season.
The Super Eagles winger impressed during a season-long loan spell at Craven Cottage, where his performances convinced manager Marco Silva and the Fulham hierarchy that he could play a key role in the club’s future plans.
Despite their desire to retain the 27-year-old, Fulham are understood to be negotiating a lower transfer fee with AC Milan. The London club is reluctant to trigger the previously agreed £26 million purchase option and is instead seeking a more favourable deal.
Chukwueze’s pace, creativity, and attacking threat made him a valuable asset during his time with Fulham, and the club remains keen to keep him as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming Premier League campaign.
The Nigerian remains under contract with the Serie A giants, leaving AC Milan in a strong negotiating position. However, Fulham’s continued pursuit highlights the positive impression the winger made during his stay in West London.
Discussions between both clubs are expected to continue in the coming weeks as Fulham attempt to reach an agreement that satisfies their financial objectives while securing the services of one of Nigeria’s most talented attacking players.
Should a deal be completed, Chukwueze would have the opportunity to continue building on a successful spell in England and further establish himself as an important figure in Marco Silva’s squad.
