SWAN Congratulates New Kano Sports Commission, Kano Pillars Board

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter, has congratulated the newly appointed members of the Kano State Sports Commission and the Management Board of Kano Pillars Football Club following their appointments by the Kano State Government.

In a statement issued on Friday in Kano, the association described the appointments as well-deserved, saying they reflected the competence, experience, and integrity of the appointees.

SWAN commended the appointments made by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, noting that the move underscored the administration’s commitment to repositioning sports development across the state.

According to the association, the inclusion of experienced stakeholders in the leadership of the Kano State Sports Commission and Kano Pillars FC is a strategic step toward strengthening sports administration and improving performance at all levels.

SWAN stated that the appointments come at a critical period in the state’s sports sector and present a unique opportunity to promote professionalism, enhance institutional efficiency, and achieve better results.

The association urged the newly appointed officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by embracing teamwork, maintaining transparency, and adopting innovative strategies for talent discovery, youth development, and sports infrastructure improvement.

It also expressed confidence that the new leadership would bring renewed energy, vision, and commitment to advancing sports development in Kano State.

SWAN further appealed to the Kano State Government to provide adequate funding for both Kano Pillars Football Club and the Kano State Sports Commission while prioritising the upgrade of sports facilities across the state to support the discovery and nurturing of young talents.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all stakeholders through constructive engagement, accountability, and positive media coverage aimed at fostering sustainable growth in the state’s sports sector.
