Onyedika set for Eintracht Frankfurt move after €10m fee agreed with Club Brugge

Raphael Onyedika is close to joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Club Brugge after the Bundesliga club agreed a fee of around €10m with the Belgian champions, with only personal terms and a medical still to be finalised.

The Nigeria midfielder is now expected to discuss the final details of his contract before travelling to Germany to complete a medical examination, which would clear the way for the transfer to be confirmed.

Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws reports that the agreement on the fee has removed the most significant obstacle in the negotiations between Frankfurt and Club Brugge.

Frankfurt, who have intensified their interest in the 25-year-old in recent weeks, view Onyedika as a key recruit to reinforce their midfield options ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign.

Move to Bundesliga nearing completion

Onyedika, who previously played for FC Midtjylland before moving to Belgium, is poised to start a new phase of his career in Germany after four years with Club Brugge.

The proposed switch would see the Nigeria international join a Frankfurt side looking to strengthen their squad depth and physical presence in central areas.

Once the remaining contractual issues are ironed out, Onyedika is expected to travel to Germany, where the medical will be the final formal step before any announcement.

Super Cup involvement in doubt

With the transfer progressing, uncertainty now surrounds whether Onyedika will feature for Club Brugge in the Belgian Super Cup against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on Friday.

Club Brugge must decide whether to involve a player who appears to be on the brink of a move away, with the risk of injury potentially complicating the final stages of the deal.

Since joining the Belgian side, the Super Eagles midfielder has made 183 competitive appearances, contributing nine goals and six assists in all competitions for Club Brugge.

His performances in the Jupiler Pro League and in European competition have helped raise his profile, leading to sustained interest from clubs in the major European leagues.

The move to Frankfurt, if completed as expected, would reward that progress and give Onyedika the opportunity to test himself in the Bundesliga while adding experience and energy to Eintracht’s midfield.
