Jorge Jesus vows to reveal full details of Cristiano Ronaldo dispute after Norway match

Jorge Jesus says he will disclose everything about his recent dispute with Cristiano Ronaldo after Portugal’s Nations League match against Norway on Sunday.
Portugal travel to face Denmark at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on Thursday in the third round of their Nations League group matches, with Ronaldo absent after leaving the national team camp.
Asked about the disagreement with Portugal captain Ronaldo before kick-off, Jesus said: “I will explain everything after the last game.”
The coach was referring to Portugal’s home fixture against Norway on Sunday, which will be the fourth round of matches in the group stage.
Jesus added: “I have many years in football and I know that I did nothing that should have caused things to go differently.”
He continued: “After the Norway game, we will talk about this subject. I will not hide or run away from it. No one can take away what Cristiano represents. He is a symbol, and there is no doubt about that.”
The comments were reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on his X account on 1 October 2026.
Ronaldo leaves Portugal camp
Ronaldo left the Portugal camp on Wednesday and returned to Madrid after a dispute with Jesus over his lack of involvement in the previous Nations League match against Norway.
The Al-Nassr captain decided to depart a few hours after Jesus said he had the final decision over team selection. The manager also acknowledged that he had failed to keep a promise to Ronaldo that the forward would play part of the Norway match.
Jesus had said he was the “first and last decision-maker” within the Portugal team before Ronaldo left the squad.
Portugal begin their match against Denmark at the top of Group D with six points. Denmark are third on three points, level with Norway but behind them on goal difference.
The latest escalation follows a series of statements from both sides, with Jesus now indicating that he will address the dispute publicly once Portugal have completed their meeting with Norway on Sunday.
