Inter Lagos target turnaround under Olusanjo Olutayo against Nasarawa United

Inter Lagos begin a new chapter under interim coach Olusanjo Olutayo when they host Nasarawa United in today’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture, with the Lagos club seeking the points needed to move off the foot of the table.
Olutayo took over after Shakiru Giwa resigned following Inter Lagos’ difficult start to the season. The interim coach will be looking to mark his first match in charge with three points as his side attempts to revive its campaign.
Inter Lagos have collected only two points from eight matches and are currently bottom of the NPFL standings. Their position was worsened by the recent removal of three points and three goals for breaching the league’s framework rules during their Matchday 7 fixture against Katsina United on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The deduction has left Inter Lagos with little margin for error, making today’s match an important early test for Olutayo. A victory would provide an immediate lift and offer the club a chance to begin climbing away from the relegation zone.
However, a change in the dugout alone will not be enough to repair the team’s season. Inter Lagos need more consistent performances, greater tactical organisation and a stronger collective display if they are to recover from their poor opening run.
Nasarawa United are also expected to approach the game with a strong desire for a positive result, setting up a closely contested encounter in Lagos. Both sides have significant reasons to pursue victory, with Inter Lagos fighting to improve their league position and Nasarawa United determined to avoid leaving empty-handed.
The fixture therefore gives Olutayo an immediate opportunity to make an impact while testing whether Inter Lagos can translate their need for points into a more disciplined and effective performance.
