Al Hilal v Al Qadsiah sets record Roshn Saudi League attendance

Al Hilal’s 3-2 victory over Al Qadsiah set a new attendance record for a football match in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

A crowd of 20,207 watched the Roshn Saudi League leaders meet at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam on Friday evening.

The attendance was the maximum number permitted inside the stadium and represented 91% of its effective seating capacity once designated security buffer zones had been taken into account.

The figure was reported by Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah, which said the match had attracted the highest crowd recorded at the venue.

It surpassed the previous regional record set when Al Ittihad played Al Ettifaq in June 2022. That fixture drew 20,115 spectators.

The match brought together the top two teams in the current Roshn Saudi League standings, with Al Hilal eventually claiming a 3-2 win.

That result lifted Al Hilal to the top of the table on 27 points. Al Qadsiah dropped to third, two points behind the leaders, and are behind Al Nassr on goal difference.

The occasion was notable both for the contest on the pitch and the record attendance in the stands.
