Rasheedat Ajibade inspires Athletico Madrid to quarter final of Spanish Cup

Atletico Madrid midfielder Rasheedat Ajibade was on the scoresheet as she helped her club side saw off Real Sociedad by 2-0 in the Round of 16 of the Spanish Copa de la Reina on Wednesday.

The Nigeria international who has being in scintillating form for the Spanish club and her country recently, scored the second goal of the night at the stroke of the hour mark.

Marta Cardona had given the Blue and Red side of Madrid club the lead at the stroke of half time after a brilliant team moves by the visitors.

Sociedad tried to force a late response as they controlled the closing stages of the game with much pressure on their visitors but Athletico held on to keep a clean sheet despite securing a ticket to the quarter finals of the competition.

Ajibade, however taken her season’s tally to five goals in all competition for Atletico Madrid.
