Paul Onuachu: Work permit set halt Nigerian’s Premier League debut for Southampton

By Monsurah Olatunji
Southampton latest additions, Nigeria’s Paul Onuachu will have to wait a bit longer to make their Premier League debut.
Onuachu joined up with the South Coast club on deadline day from Belgian Pro League club, KRC Genk where he had an impressive scoring spree.
However, the Nigeria international won’t be able to make his debut for his new team as he is yet to be granted work permit by the British Home Office.
The Saints will face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday and Southampton head coach, Nathan Jones gives reason why his two latest additions from Africa are not available for selection against the Bees.
“They’re in the building but we’re limited with what we can do with them because of the work permit situation,” Jones told reporters ahead of the game.
“You’re better off ringing the home office to find out. We can keep asking but until we get clarification on their work permits, neither will be involved.”
Southampton occupy last position on the Premier League table and will need the goal scoring services of Onuachu to start winning games in a quest to escape relegation.
