Yusuf Otubanjo: Nigerian forward bags brace in Pyunik Yerevan’s win over Shirak

Nigeria forward, Yusuf Otubanjo scored two first-half goals to lift his Armenian Premier League side, Pyunik Yerevan to a comfortable 4-1 win over Shirak Gyumri on Wednesday.
Otubanjo puts his team ahead in the 11th minute at the Republican Stadium, Yerevan before Haitian forward Jonel Desire was on hand to double the host’s lead six minutes later.
Jose Caraballo increased Pyunik’s lead to three in the 31st minute and Otubanjo doubled the lead five minutes before the halftime break despite Suren Tsarukyan reduced the deficit to 4-1 at the death.
Otubanjo lasted the entire duration as his brace took the Nigerian’s goal tally to seven after 15 league games.
Pyunik are third on the log with 40 points, six points short of second-placed Ararat, and ten behind leaders, Urartu.
Pyunik will play Van on March 5, 2023 in its next league game and Otubanjo will aim to keep up his fine form.
