By Monsurah Olatunji
Benue state government have rewarded two Lobi Stars players with cash gifts to appreciate their incredible contributions to the team.
The duo of Kalu Orji and Christian Madu were specially recognized by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the state governor, Terver Akase, despite their 1-0 defeat against the Sunshine Stars at the Akure Sports Complex.
The away defeat means two straight losses for the Group B table toppers but Akase claimed the reward is to motivate the boys.
“The award to the lads will rather encourage them to go back to the drawing board and fix things right ahead of their remaining fixtures,” Akase told the club media.
“The lads need not lose their grips on the log but remain firm to secure a playoff ticket for their numerous teeming supporters as the league winds down.”
With this motivation, Lobi Stars has shifted attention temporarily away from the domestic league and will face a lower-division side FC One Rocket in the round of 64 of the Federation Cup which is also known as the Challenge Cup tomorrow at the Awka Township Stadium, Anambra State.
