By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigerian forward, Flourish Sabastine touched down in France on Monday morning as she looks to complete a switch to French outfit Stade de Reims, NigeriaFootball.ng can exclusively report.

Sabastine who has been a key member of Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Bayelsa Queens arrived in France in a bid to seal her move to the French side.

The former Nigeria junior international is expected to undergo medicals before her new club unveils her in the coming days upon the agreement of a deal.

After her stellar performance for the Nigeria U-20 girls at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, where the team reached the quarter-final, Sabastine gained the attention of the Super Falcons handlers.

Sabastine played all four games for the Falconets at the last World Cup and scored the winning goal in the group opener against France. She made her senior debut for Nigeria in a 2-0 loss to Japan in a friendly last year.

She was also part of the Falconets campaign at the inaugural U20 WAFU-B Women’s Cup in Kumazi, Ghana, where they finished as runners up earlier this year.

The 18-year-old was recently called up for Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) first round qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe before the latter withdrew from the double-header encounter.

The pacy attacker won a silver medal at the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Championship in Ghana as the Falconets succumbed to the host country on penalties in the final this year.

At the club level, she was part of the Bayelsa Queens side that won the Nigerian league title in 2022 and scored two goals in her side’s race to winning the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League title.

She was also pivotal in the Prosperity Girls’ debut campaign at the Morocco 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League, beating Simba Queens to the bronze medals.

She also played a crucial role as the Yenegoa-based side finished second behind Delta Queens in the 2022/2023 NWFL Premiership campaign and in the winning of the 2023 Federation Cup (FA Cup).
