Sport Minister to deploy diplomatic avenue in Victor Osimhen, Napoli clash
By Saheed Afolabi
The Nigeria Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh has revealed his intention of deploying diplomatic avenue to solve the Victor Osimhen and Napoli rift.
Napoli had embarrassed the Super Eagles striker, Osimhen with a post on their verified TikTok handle by mocking him over the penalty miss against Bologna.
Senator Enoh described how saddened he was upon the news reaching him over the incident involving the Partenopei and Nigeria star,  having reached Osimhen for first hand details before establishing facts on the matter.
“Over the past weekend, the news coming out of Napoli concerning Super Eagles player -Victor Osimhen saddened me greatly,” Enoh told the media.
“My office is trying to reach Victor Osimhen directly as well to understand first-hand the issues. We are committed to establishing the facts of the matter. Meanwhile, I am in touch with the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Yusuf Maitama Tuggar and the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Italy, Ambassador Mfawa Abam.
“Together, we are employing Diplomatic avenues with Italy for a more proper approach to looking into the matter as it is. Under the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are committed to ensuring our sportsmen and women are accorded the respect they deserve and are not exposed to any injustice.”
Osimhen responded well after the jibe thrown at him by scoring in the Naples 4-1 against Udinese.
The Super Eagles goal poacher led the Partenopei to a Scudetto title after 33 years and also won the highest goal scorer award last season.
