Nigeria defender, Michelle Alozie believes her side grit gave Houston Dash a 2-0 win over Gotham FC on Sunday.

The Houston Dash player scored two goals to help her American side to a 2-0 win at Gotham.

She scored the opener in the additional minutes of the first half and doubled the lead in the 67th minute stating that the focus is for the team to pick one of the six playoff spots.

“That was intense. I mean, we knew that Gotham was going to come out,” Alozie told Houston Dash in a video posted on the team’s X handle.

“We need to make the playoffs first. Everyone were just clearing their lines. It was the Houston grit man.”

The brace took Alozie’s tally to four after 15 games this season with an assist.

With two games to the end of the 2023 NWSL regular season, Houston Dash sits in the seventh position, a place, and two points short of the final playoff place occupied by OL Reign.

The team will face Angel City FC and Orlando Pride in their last two games of the regular season.
