Nigeria defender, Igoh Ogbu has successfully undergone surgery after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon during the recent international break, in a setback for both club and country.
The Slavia Praha centre-back had the procedure performed at the Central Military Hospital in Střešovice, Czech Republic. Medical officials confirmed the operation went as planned, describing it as successful.
Ogbu is now expected to spend around three months on the sidelines as he begins rehabilitation and recovery. The injury represents a blow to his momentum at both club level and with the Super Eagles, where he has recently been involved in international duty.
The setback occurred during the latest international window, which included Nigeria’s 2–1 defeat to the Portugal national football team in a friendly match.
The 24-year-old defender has grown into a key option for Slavia Praha and has also featured in recent Super Eagles squads, making his absence a notable concern ahead of upcoming fixtures.
Medical updates indicate that his recovery will be closely monitored, with physiotherapy expected to begin in the coming weeks as he works toward a return to full fitness.
