Nathan Tella: Bayer Leverkusen player hopes to get Super Eagles call-up

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Bayer Leverkusen player, Nathan Tella is hoping for a Nigeria’s senior national team call-up having already made the decision to play for the Super Eagles.

Tella has a Nigerian passport, his parents are from Nigeria and he has always followed the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches with great interest.
He is Leverkusen’s most expensive signing of the summer transfer window as he continues to settle into life in Germany alongside Nigerian forward, Victor Boniface.
“If I got the chance to play for Nigeria, I would be more than happy and would accept it,” Tella told Sport Bild.
“I’ve always told my parents and friends that I’d do it.
“I’ve always said in the last three or four years that Nigeria is a big part of my life even though I’ve been an ‘England boy’ from London all my life.”
The former Arsenal and Southampton player faces a stiff challenge in a bid to get a Super Eagles call-up amid a huge talent pull in the team’s attacking fold but is confident he can prove himself when given the chance.
“I want to prove myself here if I get the chance to play. I want to develop further and help the team and the club. If I get a call for an international call-up, that would be a bonus.”

Born in England, Tella is of Nigerian descent and can play as an attacking midfielder and right winger.
