Trabzonspor Prepare Improved Bid for Super Eagles Striker Tolu Arokodare

Trabzonspor are set to return with an improved offer as they intensify efforts to sign Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

The Turkish Super Lig side are in the market for a new centre-forward following the sale of Augusto to Zenit in a deal worth €15 million, with an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses. Arokodare has emerged as their preferred replacement.

Trabzonspor’s pursuit has received a boost after Fiorentina pulled out of the race. The Serie A club reportedly exhausted its non-EU player quota with the signing of Christ Inao Oulai, leaving the Turkish outfit with fewer competitors for the Nigerian forward’s signature.

However, Trabzonspor could still face competition from Italy, with Genoa now reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old. Wolverhampton have already rejected an initial approach for Arokodare and are believed to be demanding more than €20 million to sanction his departure.

Despite the setback, Trabzonspor are expected to resume negotiations with both Wolves and the player’s representatives. Reports suggest the club has already reached a preliminary agreement on personal terms with Arokodare.

The Nigerian international is also said to have been convinced by fellow Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu, who reportedly encouraged him to make the move to Turkey. Trabzonspor are now expected to table a loan offer that includes an option to buy.

Arokodare remains under contract with Wolverhampton until 2029 and is currently valued at around €20 million.

The towering striker joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk after an outstanding campaign in which he scored 23 goals in 39 competitive appearances. Since arriving in England in a €24 million transfer, Arokodare has registered six goals in 38 appearances for the Premier League club.
