Nigeria’s Yemisi Akintoye makes referee list for CAF Women’s Champions League

Nigeria FIFA badge referee, Yemisi Akintoye has been selected by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) as part of the referees to officiate the Women’s Champions League tournament in Morocco.
Akintoye is a celebrated FIFA badge referee from Nigeria and will was part of the 17 referees earlier selected to officiate the Women’s Champions League before the final cut was announced.
The Lagos born referee underwent a one week pre tournament course and was lucky to be among the final 12 selected to officiate the competition.
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) graduate will share officiating duties with Rwandan, Salma Musaganda who became the first African to officiate at the men’s world cup in Qatar.
Akintoye became a FIFA badge referee in 2021 and was at the Wafu B Champions League in Benin.
She has also officiated the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six playoffs to determine the league’s overall champions.
Akintoye was also privileged to officiate the Aisha Buhari Cup in 2021 and the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) in Benin and a host of other competitions.
