Abdul Mumin: Ghana-Nigeria defender linked with free transfer to Getafe in La Liga move

Abdul Mumin, the Ghana-Nigeria centre-back currently without a club after leaving Rayo Vallecano, is being linked with a move to La Liga side Getafe. The 28-year-old defender, who has a market valuation of around €3 million, is available on a free transfer following the expiry of his deal in Madrid earlier this summer.
Getafe are understood to be exploring defensive reinforcements and Mumin’s availability as a free agent makes him an attainable option within tight budget constraints. His familiarity with Spanish football after his spell at Rayo is seen as an additional advantage as clubs look for players who can adapt quickly ahead of the new campaign.
Born in Accra on 6 June 1998, the 1.88m right-footed centre-back moved to Spain in 2022, when Rayo Vallecano signed him from Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal in a deal worth €1.5 million. His market value has remained stable at €3 million since that move, reflecting his standing in top-flight European football.
Before arriving in La Liga, Mumin developed in Denmark with Nordsjaelland after coming through the Right to Dream academy structure, gaining experience in senior European competition across multiple seasons. His dual Ghanaian and Nigerian nationality adds further interest to his next move, with his progress monitored in both countries.
Mumin formally became a free agent on 1 July 2026 after leaving Rayo Vallecano and is yet to commit to a new club, leaving Getafe among the sides assessing whether to turn their interest into a concrete offer.
