Super Eagles Defender Benjamin Tanimu Joins Tanzanian Side Singida Black Stars

Nigeria defender Benjamin Tanimu has completed a two-year transfer to Tanzanian Premier League club Singida Black Stars, taking another significant step in his professional football career.

The former Bendel Insurance centre-back joins the Tanzanian outfit after previous spells with English side Crawley Town and Moroccan club Maghreb de Fès, where he gained valuable experience in different football environments.

Singida Black Stars are expected to benefit from Tanimu’s leadership qualities, defensive strength, and top-level experience as they prepare for the upcoming season. The Nigerian international is also expected to play a key role in strengthening the club’s backline.

Tanimu’s rise from the Nigeria Premier Football League to professional football abroad continues to serve as an inspiration to young footballers, particularly in Edo State. His journey highlights the rewards of dedication, discipline, and consistent hard work in pursuing a successful football career.

Reacting to the defender’s latest move, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, expressed confidence that Tanimu would thrive in the Tanzanian top flight.

Shaibu described the Super Eagles defender as hardworking, disciplined, and committed to continuous improvement throughout his career. He recalled that Tanimu developed through the Bendel Insurance system during his tenure as Deputy Governor of Edo State, noting that watching the defender progress from a promising youngster to a full international has been a source of immense pride.

According to Shaibu, Tanimu’s achievements demonstrate the value of sustained investment in grassroots sports development, adding that such commitment can produce athletes capable of competing at the highest level.

The NIS Director-General reaffirmed his dedication to youth development through sports, stressing that football and other sporting disciplines remain powerful tools for empowering young Nigerians regardless of their social or economic background.

He wished Tanimu every success in his new adventure with Singida Black Stars and expressed optimism that the defender would continue to make Nigeria proud on the international stage.
